It used to really bother me when I would see small children in restaurants watching movies on portable DVD-players. These days, everyone’s got a tablet, and even mature adults are acting like those children. At the very least, we get lost in our phones, and I don’t need to tell you how annoying it is to try to have a conversation with someone who’s in the middle of texting.

I do it too, of course. I’m young enough to be part of the problem but also old enough to complain about how it’s the end of civilization as we know it. I guess this is growing up?
