Has anybody else spent much time thinking about this? If you plan on creating a large-scale, fictional universe for a variety of creative works, you need to be very careful about naming it. You can’t name it after the lead character because then it doesn’t make sense if you have a story without that character. You can’t name it after an event within the story because then it doesn’t make sense when you tell a story outside of that event. You can’t even name it after the planet on which the story takes place because then you obviously miss out on the chance to do space adventures.
