Nothing like crashing on the moon to make you think your whole life has been worthless and the world would be better off without you in it. If only we had someone who could show us what that would look like, and then also maybe rescue us with their magic angel powers.
At least there’s good conversation to be had, even if it somehow (magically?) continues on long after the declared end of the conversation. It’s true that the cultural response to absurd and unnecessary remakes tends to follow a stale formula. When will pop-culture commentators develop some originality? Come up with something new to say about it remakes, instead of just rehashing what’s been said before. People will reward you for it!
