It’s great to live in The Future and everything, but it is kind of scary when institutions that you valued growing up seem to be at risk of going extinct. I love libraries, and I’ll do what I have to to keep them alive, even if I haven’t really thought my plan through. If only there were someplace I could go that had materials for me to research the subject, or really any subject at all. Someplace quiet, and pretty much free. Hmm.
In fact, my mother is a librarian, as are a few of my friends, and I don’t really think it’s crazy. If I’m completely honest, I kind of envy them. They’re doing something important for the community, providing a valuable service for people who otherwise might not have all the advantages that I do. I mean, dressing up in a costume and fighting crime is pretty cool, too, I guess.
Sigh.
