I read about a study that showed that people who are good at imagining accomplishing their goals are actually bad at following through on them, because they get enough satisfaction out of imagining it and thus don’t really need to pursue them further. I am definitely this kind of person.
One of the first things I always start doing to get my life together is going for long walks, but walks tend to lend themselves to daydreams of the various other things I can start improving in my life. By the time I’m done I’m lucky if I ever get any more exercise than that, let alone start any of the more complex projects.
Oh well, a life of sitting around daydreaming is actually better than lots of the alternatives. I’ll take it.
