While there are a lot of things unclear about how Occupy Wall Street, as well as its spin-offs in other cities, is presenting itself, one thing that is abundantly clear is that the authorities are reacting very poorly indeed. Very poorly and cruelly.
While the police are undoubtedly going to be even more eager to use pepper spray in a world where it causes people to mindlessly celebrate internet memes, I can’t help wondering if it could possibly have some positive application. It would certainly be a quick and easy way to include the old and the out-of-touch in current internet culture. Actually, maybe there is no positive application.
